In the latter part of February, Angelina Jolie unveiled her pregnancy bump to the public. However, even before the arrival of her newest additions to the Jolie-Pitt family, Jolie’s utmost focus has always been on being a mother. Balancing her responsibilities as a parent to her four children holds the utmost significance for her in the present moment. In a heartwarming conversation with PEOPLE, Jolie expressed her deep contentment in fulfilling the role of their mother, as seen in a photo of her and her daughter Zahara.

The origin story: Following her involvement in the production of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Angelina Jolie got acquainted with Cambodia. This prompted her to revisit the country in 2002, accompanied by her then-spouse Billy Bob Thornton, with the intention of adopting a 10-month-old child named Maddox (shown in a photograph captured during their stay at a hotel in Los Angeles). While her marriage ultimately dissolved, it marked the beginning of Jolie’s journey as a devoted single mother.

Maddox, the son whom Jolie had the opportunity to meet at a park in Santa Monica, California in 2002, played a significant role in her life. Prior to their meeting, she had never experienced the joy of holding a baby. Determined to enhance their quality of life, Jolie made rapid and substantial changes. According to her interview with Reader’s Digest, she expressed her profound gratitude for the transformative impact Maddox had on her life, declaring it to be the greatest event she had ever experienced. This life-altering encounter inspired her to expand their family further. Three years later, Jolie welcomed baby Zahara from Ethiopia, granting Maddox a beloved sister.

Jolie’s life took another turn when she crossed paths with Brad Pitt. Their fateful encounter occurred during the filming of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005. In a short span of time, not only did Pitt embrace Jolie’s two children as his own, but the couple also celebrated the arrival of their first biological child, a beautiful baby girl named Shiloh. A delightful mother-daughter moment was captured in New York City during their time together in 2007.

In March 2007, the Jolie-Pitt family joyfully welcomed their newest member, Pax, a Vietnamese boy. Angelina Jolie expressed her understanding that it would take time for Pax to comprehend the concept of having a loving family and settling into his new, stable life. Meanwhile, in the pleasant month of May, Pax had the opportunity to accompany his new siblings for a delightful outing to Marineland in Antibes, France.

number one priority is my children. Skiing with them is one of my favorite ways to spend quality time together. We recently visited Mammoth Mountain in California and had a fantastic time. Despite our high-profile status, we managed to keep things relaxed and focused on the kids. In February, my partner Brad Pitt and I enjoyed a fun-filled ski trip, where the main goal was to create special memories with our little ones. This was a welcome break after my humanitarian mission in Iraq. Coming back home, I realized that being a mother is not just a role, but my true calling. It brings me immense joy, and I cherish every moment I get to spend with my children. Skiing with them brings us closer as a family, and it’s a passion we all share.”
