“Rihanna’s Halftime Performance Breaks World Record with Over 121 Million Viewers, Confirms Guinness”

On February 12, 2023, Rihanna from Barbados (born Robyn Rihanna Fenty) performed the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, USA. According to data-collection specialists Nielsen, an adjusted report on May 2, 2023, revealed that the show had an audience of 121.017 million concurrent viewers. This number surpassed the previously reported 118.7 million viewers and put Rihanna ahead of Katy Perry’s Super Bowl XLIX half-time show on February 1, 2015, which was said to have been watched by 121 million TV viewers.

Rihanna’s half-time show, which included popular songs such as “What’s My Name”, “We Found Love”, “Umbrella”, and “Diamonds”, was watched by more people than the actual game (115.1 million viewers, breaking the previous record of 114.442 million viewers from 2015), in which the Kansas City Chiefs competed against the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Chiefs won 38-35. The performance was Rihanna’s first live show in five years, during which she announced that she was expecting her second child with US rapper A$AP Rocky (born Rakim Mayers). Interestingly, Savage X Fenty, Rihanna’s clothing and lingerie brand, sold T-shirts with the slogan “Rihanna concert interrupted by a football game, weird but whatever” as part of its game-day collection.
